Interview with Maike Gabriela

Full name : Maike Gabriela Lüdenbach

Hello , would you introduce yourself to SOMW readers.

My name is Maike Lüdenbach, I was born in Germany but grew up in Barcelona, Spain. I like to think I have the best of both cultures and that makes for an interesting mix

Did you always wanted to be a model, or did you stumble upon on it, get discovered etc … ?

I actually didnt want to become a model, I thought of it as too superficial but than as so often in life it just came my way too many times for me to ignore a great opportunity to learn and grow and live an adventure 

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this field?

I am more and more having great expiriences as a Creative Director and I will continue to walk that path, it suits me better to be in control 

3 words to define the modeling industry.

You use the word "industry" and industry will always be the same whatever the field, and it normally does not come with pretty adjectives but if I had three words for the fashion world id say something like :

" Meant / to be/ a phantasy".  

What do you enjoy the most about your job ?

Working with people, being creative and so creating beauty and letting my imagination run wild .

What is the worst thing you have heard about the modeling industry?

Nothing you haven´t heard before, and what you have heard it is  mostly true.

Would you share with us some of your future projects ?

I just finished a beautiful story shoot by Achaf Issami with Svetlana @ uno Models ( bcn) and Ivan Martinez as a make up artist . I had the concept but refind it around the model and that was what made it so beautiful in the end. I love that we shot in analogue and even though the cost are not the most economic having real old scholl polaroids, there is nothing like it !

I also started photography and the first pictures published you can find in NAKEDBUTSAFE magazine. I have also worked on some collag eand a story for them you can check out at nakedbutsafe.com

How would describe your personal style ?

It´s hard to pin that down but i think it is quit classic, with basics and always something very unique to stand out. I barely wear heels. I am not following fashion as much as I take care of style but I evolve and get inspired by what I am in the mood for. My inspiration are from black and white movies , painters and artist...you should follow my blog:

Do you have any beauty/skin care tips or tricks to always look fresh and rested for photoshoots ?

I never wear make up if its not for a shoot or a public appearance , I use a colored facial cream max so I just love creams and almond oil is great for a good facial hydration if your skin is dry like mine..but mostly I´m just rally lucky with my skin.

Of course there are things you can do to help your skin easily, but you already know: no alchol or cigarettes nor other drug ( obviously)... loads of water, an exfoliation every couple of weeks and loads of nurturing masks..

What do you think of SOMW?

I think that every platform that gives models a voice is of great importance. 

Models should be inspiring, they are meant to be a Muse and be aware of their own personal growth to be a beautiful person not only by mere physicality but from the inside to shine out on the world.

 Interest in them is important,questions like these ones make them reflect upon themselves and their worth for they are not  ONLY CLOTHE HANGERS.

Or I think at least they shouldn´t be but than again for that to happen they shouldn't act like being just a  rack either...

It´s a cliche, but at the end of the day it´s  only you who has to face the reflection in the mirror every single day so you better be okay with who your facing.
